ALL of your personal items must fit in a 5 gallon bucket (except for your bedding which you will pack in a durable black garbage bag)
To foster a sense of unity, honor our pioneer heritage, remove social barriers, and contribute to a fun, authentic trekking experience, it is expected that youth and adults wear pioneer clothing. Expect everything you bring to get dusty and dirty, don't bring anything that can't be washed or you care if it gets dirty.
Ideally, young women’s blouses should be lightweight and long-sleeved, and their skirts should reach the midcalf, with bloomers or shorts underneath to prevent chafing. Dresses are okay as well. Aprons are optional but sometimes helpful with deep pockets! A bonnet or wide brimmed hat will feel authentic and help with sun exposure, please bring one.
Shoes are most important. Shoes do not need to be period style. Comfort and support is important. Do not wear new shoes, they need to be broken in.
Bonnet project
Lightweight, long-sleeved button down collarless shirts and comfortable, loose-fitting pants are recommended for the young men. Cotton fabrics, twill and canvas are good choices. No jeans please. Men's pants were held up by suspenders. Feel free to add this optional accessory. Vests are also fun but optional. A wide brimmed hat could be straw felt etc. please pack a hat for sun protection.

Additional Recommendations:
To help reduce the likelihood of blisters, participants are encouraged to wear (1) walking or hiking shoes that are broken in and (2) layered socks if prone to blisters. The inner sock would need to be thin and synthetic, while the outer sock is wool or a wool blend. Otherwise one pair of socks is fine. Socks that wick away moisture are the most helpful. Cotton socks should be avoided. Socks that are a wool-synthetic blend can also help reduce the potential for blisters.
To help protect from sun and insects, participants are encouraged to wear long sleeves, wide-brimmed hats or bonnets.
Clothing should be appropriate for the weather conditions that might occur. Trekkers should bring protective over-clothing if rain or cold weather is likely. If they get wet, they should put on dry clothes as soon as possible.
