All youth ages 14-18 are invited to attend. If you are turning 14 this year (2026), you are old enough to attend. If you are a graduating senior, you are also invited to come. Friends are encouraged to join us!
Treks require physical stamina. Each participant is encouraged to eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly, and get sufficient rest to prepare for the Trek. Treks are physically demanding. Participants should take seriously any preparation they may need to make so they are physically fit enough to safely hike the distances involved. Each youth and each adult should be prepared to walk three miles an hour and be capable of walking up to 8 miles a day while helping pull a heavy handcart. Also, prepare spiritually by pondering on and researching your anscestors. Whether or not they were handcart pioneers, we can learn so much from those who came before us. Preparing a name to then take to the temple is another amazing idea.
We will sleep out under the stars without tents. We will bring sleeping pads and sleeping bags. Tarps for the base layer will be provided. There will also be places to change clothes privately. We will sleep in trek family groups with adult supervision and separation of young men and young women.
We Trek to help the youth learn from the experineces of the handcart pioneers. Treks provide powerful opportunities for youth to:
Strengthen testimonies.
Build unity.
Seeing the value in sacrifice.
Persevering Through Adversity.
Practice gratitude for those who came before us.
We will be dressing in pioneer style clothing. Please see the packing list tab at the top corner of the page.
We have a great team working hard to plan the snacks & food provided for you. There will be plenty of food and snacks daily. Let us know of any food allergies in the appropriate spot on the registration form. The kitchen crew will accomodate your needs.
